For our last post here, we give you our newest music video – aWlp’s Adria Petty directs Coldplay & Rihanna in the Asian-themed sword-fighting spectacle, “Princess of China.”
Arni & Kinski turn a philanthropic eye on the latest PSA for (RED), Bono’s organization to help fund the fight against AIDS and HIV. (RED) Rush to Zero is a new initiative being launched June 1st .To watch the video (music courtesy of aWLp’s Sigur Ros) and to find out ways you can contribute and be a part of the solution, click here.
The Japanese performance and installation artist Chiharu Shiota will be showing her latest exhibition at Haunch of Venison in New York through June 16, 2012. The exhibition includes a large window installation comprised solely of found window frames Shiota collected in East Berlin. As with much of her other work, this piece is defined by the notion of “presence in the midst of absence”, and takes the forgotten, discarded frames of days past to create an interweaving, connected structure. To learn more about Shiota’s work, or other exhibitions on display at Haunch of Venison, click here.
Fresh out of the editing room, Julien Temple will be screening his latest documentary Glastopia at the Sheffield Doc/Fest 2012 on June 16. For tickets to see his behind-the-scenes look at one of the world’s biggest music festivals, or any of the other amazing documentaries in this year’s line-up, click here.
From zany to soulful, aWLp’s Craig McDean captured the many different sides to Jack White, the ever-evolving artist for the latest issue of Interview Magazine . Check out the full article here.
To Rome With Love, Woody Allen’s latest film with frequent collaborator/cinematographer aWLp’s Darius Khondji, will be making its North American premiere as the opening film for the 2012 Los Angeles Film Festival. The film is packed with a star-studded ensemble cast, including Woody Allen himself returning to the big screen since his last appearance in Scoop in 2006.
Starting this Friday, Slow Dancing by aWLp’s David Michalek will be projected on the façade of Widener Library in Harvard Yard as part of the 20th anniversary celebration of Harvard’s ARTS FIRST festival. Michalek documented over 40 dancers—from virtuosi of ballet and Balinese classical dance to masters of hip-hop and krumping—including Harvard’s own Jill Johnson, Director of the OFA Dance Program and faculty member in the Department of Music. For more info, click here.
Famous for his quirky fashion designs (including Madonna’s cone-shaped bra), Jean Paul Gaultier’s latest subject to dress is the ubiquitous Diet Coke bottle. Photographed by aWLp’s Stéphane Sednaoui, the ad features the two look, “day” and “night,” which unsurprisingly, is a nod to the Material Girl.
Premiering today is Regina Spektor’s video for “All the Rowboats,” directed by aWLp’s Adria Petty. Spektor’s new album comes out on May 29. Check out the video here.
Milky, the lovable character from Blur’s “Coffee & TV” music video, is now visiting Cincinnati for a special appearance at the Spectacle show (see our previous entry). Seen here with curator of the show and founder of flux, Jonathan Wells, Milky was recreated especially for the exhibition. See the video that made Milky famous here.
