If you find yourself in Cincinnati in the coming days, make sure to stop by Spectacle – The Music Video exhibition at the Contemporary Arts Center. Curated by the good folks at flux, the show will feature aWLp’s Arni & Kinski, Stéphane Sednaoui and Garth Jennings. Besides the showings of their memorable videos for artists such as Sigur Rós, Björk and Blur, the exhibit will also include special memorabilia from the directors, well-worth to check out. The long awaited video for Ólöf Arnalds’ “Surrender” has finally made its way to the web. Backed by fellow Icelandian, Björk, the song is featured on Ólöf’s sophomore album, Innundir Skinni. The video was conceived, directed, and shot by aWLp’s Arni & Kinski (another two Icelandic exports) over a period of one day in Iceland’s Þingvellir National Park on Super 8mm film. Also in the video is Damien Jalet, the acclaimed choreographer who worked with Arni & Kinski previously on Editors “You Don’t Know Love” video. Ólöf will be playing at the Sydney Music Festival on Jan 22 & 23, 2011.
At Chelsea’s Honey Space Gallery, directors Arni&Kinski recently showed eight large-format photographs and a video installation from their video for “Go Do,” the first single from the eponymous album by Jónsi, solo artist and lead singer of Sigur Rós. The Fuglastrákur exhibit marks the latest installment in a longstanding creative partnership between the directors and the artist.
